Music, Art, and a Walk in the Clouds

Haliburton Forest Wolf Centre

Mark August on your calendar as a great time to visit Haliburton. The Forest Festival is a summer highlight in the region, where you can catch musical performances at an amazing amphitheatre on the lovely and secluded Bone Lake. The festival takes place at the Haliburton Forest & Wildlife Reserve, a breathtaking park complete with forestland, winding rivers, and wetlands. Walk along forest trails and take in the festival’s Land Art Project, featuring art installations against the backdrop of the forest.

The Wildlife Reserve is also home to the Wolf Centre, where you are welcome to visit the resident wolf pack and learn more about these stunning creatures. We also recommend taking a “walk in the clouds” in the Canopy Tour. The four-hour guided tour takes you along forests, streams, and along a suspended canopy boardwalk.

For another unique arts and nature experience, spend an afternoon at the Haliburton Sculpture Forest just outside the village. The sculpture collection features Canadian and international artists and a free guided tour is offered on Tuesday mornings in July and August.

Location: 1153 Denison Rd., Minden

Annual studio tour with 13 studios, 29 artisans featuring pottery, glass, jewellery, painting, woodwork, fibre arts, photography, masks, totem poles, and drums.
