Dorset Scenic Lookout Tower

Dorset Scenic Look Tower

Built in 1922, the original Dorset Tower reached 82 feet high and was used as a fire lookout. Today the restored lookout tower looms 100 feet into the air and is visited by more than 60,000 vehicles each year. Autumn marks the peak time for tower visits, as the bird’s eye view over the sea of gold and red treetops makes quite the spectacle. The grounds surrounding the tower feature hiking trails and a picnic area. There is also a gift shop onsite.

The Dorset Scenic Look Tower is located off highway 35, approximately 45 minutes by car northwest from Minden. Don’t leave home without your printable copy of the Dorset Scenic Lookout Tower trail map.
